After coming down hard on the West Indies with a decision to sue the WICB over withdrawing midway through its tour of India, the BCCI announced the 14-man squad for the first three ODIs of the five-match home series with Sri Lanka, resting regular skipper MS Dhoni and giving the captaincy duty to Virat Kohli.
The BCCI managed to secure the hurriedly arranged series with Sri Lanka after the Windies flew home prematurely, abandoning an ODI, a T20 and three Tests. Sri Lanka Cricket accepted its counterpart's offer readily, with the series scheduled between November 1 to 15.
